ELIZABETH MCRAE-WHEAT

     Liz is a Licensed Professional counselor who supports many clients. She has been drawn to those that have served in the military and suffer from PTSD.  

 

     Liz believes therapy is a holistic process and she integrates her training, experience and education to meet her client’s unique needs.

 

     Her educational background in Sociology gives her perspective on the impact social systems have on our well-being. She has fifteen years of experience as a massage therapist, through which she developed insight into the mind/body connection and the powerful ways that  releasing trauma from our body can aid in the therapeutic process. Liz’s years spent in the performing arts, honing her craft as a stand up comedian and actress taught her the value of creative expression in healing.  While enjoying a career in the performing arts in California, Liz worked at Promises Treatment Center in Santa Monica supporting doctors struggling with addictions.  

 

     Liz specializes in working with people in recovery from drugs and alcohol, sex and love addiction, and adult children of alcoholics. She helps clients overcome creative blocks, and hone their skills in public speaking. She also understands the connection between caregivers and addicts and works with caregivers learning to set boundaries and develop self care strategies.
