Associate/Graduate Intern

Graduate Student at Liberty University

Michelle's journey to becoming a counselor started when she was a teenager. Similar to most young women these days, Michelle was met with the pressures of social media, comparison, and high female beauty standards at a young age; which caused her to question her all-around self-worth as an adolescent female living in today's world. A distrust in what was seen/heard through media sparked a desire in Michelle; she craved to know more about people than what she saw through a screen. Michelle is passionate about walking alongside others in their unique situations and getting to know people on a more than surface level.

Michelle received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology and minor in Sociology from Texas
A&M University in 2019. She is currently earning her practicum hours at Anchored which further her toward graduating from Liberty University with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Michelle's goal is to become a Licensed Professional Counselor that works with adolescents/adults and specializes in Anxiety Disorders, Eating Disorders, and Mood
Disorders; with a research focus on the Effects of Social Media on today's Youth.

Michelle has experience in serving clients with more severe mental disorders such as Bipolar Disorder I & II, Major Depressive Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Schizoaffective Disorders through her work experience as a Mental Health Case Manager at the MHMR Authority of Brazos County. Michelle is certified and knowledgeable of HIPAA guidelines and is trained to deal with clients that may be in crisis. Michelle also has participated in an existential research study that examined levels of Self-Esteem and Self-Efficacy among 3rd-5th graders in reaching their career, educational or personal goals.

Michelle believes that her own life experiences, her education, and her work/research experiences have led her to where she is now! Michelle is ecstatic about starting her journey at Anchored in January of 2022 and finally seeing clients of her own. She mentions that she plans to "be like a sponge", soaking up as much knowledge, wisdom, and perspective as she can from her new clients and wonderful colleagues throughout her time at Anchored.
