Collaborative Approach to
MICHELLE DUNAWAY
Licensed Professional Counselor Associate
Michelle's journey to becoming a counselor started when she was a teenager; when she was met with the pressures of social media, comparison, and high female beauty standards. A distrust in what was seen/heard online sparked a desire in Michelle--she craved to know more about people than what she saw through a screen. Michelle is passionate about walking alongside others in their unique situations and getting to know people on a more than surface level.
Michelle received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology and minor in Sociology from Texas A&M University in 2019. She has completed her practicum hours at Anchored and has graduated from Liberty University with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Michelle's goal is to become a Licensed Professional Counselor that works with adolescents/adults and specializes in Anxiety Disorders, Eating Disorders, and Mood Disorders; with a research focus on the effects of social media on today's youth.
Michelle has experience in serving clients with more severe mental disorders such as Bipolar Disorder I & II, Major Depressive Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Schizoaffective Disorders through her work experience as a Mental Health Case Manager at the MHMR Authority of Brazos County. Michelle is certified and knowledgeable of HIPAA guidelines and is trained to deal with clients that may be in crisis.
